IMSA Technical Inspection by DEKRA and IMSA
This a special event with two exciting presentations in conjunction with Petit Le Mans.
Learn all about how a Miata is transformed into a turnkey racecar that sells for $58,900. The presentation will be introduced by Dean Case who worked on the development of the original Miata and is now Communications Officer for Mazda Motorsports. Dean is a 35 year SAE member. The technical walkaround will be conducted by Glenn Long from Long Road Racing. Long Road Racing was the engineering partner on the MX-5 Cup race car and has produced over 100 of the cars in their Statesville, North Carolina facility.
Kirk Fordham DEKRA Sr. Technical and Quality Excellence and Geoffrey Carter – IMSA WeatherTech Sr. Series Technical Manager will describe what happens in the Technical Inspection Center and why this process is so critical. Have a chance to ask Kirk and Geof questions about the cars, the process, and the equipment used by the Technical Inspectors. Learn what is inspected during the Safety Inspections and why this is the most scrutinized part of the inspection process. Learn about Balance of Performance (BOP) and understand the technical nature of this very important process

4:00 pm - 5:00 pm Mazda Motorsports presentation at the Mazda hauler (support paddock)
5:00 pm - 5:30 pm IMSA tech inspection presentation at Tech Inspection (main paddock)
5:45 pm - 6:30 pm Watch the MX-5 race
6:30 pm - 7:30 pm Social time at the food court
After the event there will be the WeatherTech Championship night practice.
There is no charge for the presentations, but Petit Le Mans tickets are required for entrance and must be purchased from the track.
